Hire a Writer

In response to frequent inquiries from individuals and businesses seeking qualified writers, we established the Hire a Writer directory which draws from our pool of professional members.

Whether you require assistance with corporate reports, white papers, memoir ghostwriting, novel structuring, text translation, dissertation refinement, or other writing needs, our directory features skilled writers.

From producing original articles and commissioned biographies to technical reviews, press releases, website copy, speeches, and more, our directory encompasses diverse writing specialties.

On the other hand, if you’re a qualified writer instead, then kindly get in touch with us.

We are looking for professional writers in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, journalism, YA literature, academic or corporate writing, screenwriting, playwriting, editing, coaching, or sensitivity reading.

You can apply to be part of our online Hire a Writer directory. Get in touch with us now!

Enroll in One of Our Workshops

Our writing workshops here at Montreal Writes provide valuable support to participants, allowing them to enhance their writing skills under the guidance of experienced writer-facilitators and through feedback from peers.

These workshops are conducted in two regular seasons annually. The diverse range of genres covered includes long- and short-form fiction, memoir, narrative non-fiction, poetry, playwriting, screenwriting, children’s and/or young adult literature, and career-related topics.

Additionally, single workshops are occasionally offered at different times throughout the year, so it’s advisable to stay updated through the website and listings.

We welcome new workshop leaders and suggestions for workshop topics. If you have a workshop idea to propose or would like to see Montreal Writes organize a particular workshop, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Apply for Workshop Scholarships

Montreal Writes also generously provides four full scholarships for every workshop term as a means of supporting participants who would otherwise be unable to attend.

In order to become eligible, the only criteria we enforce is that you need to reside in Quebec.

To apply, view our workshop descriptions and choose your preferred workshop, with a second choice in case your first choice is full. After that, get in touch with us to ensure scholarships are still available.

Send us an email, including your first- and second-choice workshop titles, along with a brief statement (maximum 1 paragraph) affirming that you are applying due to financial need (no need for details).

Include your full name and the best way to contact you.

Keep in mind that it’s a first-come, first-served basis, and we mainly prefer those who haven’t received a Montreal Writes scholarship yet.

Story Scraping Workshops

Montreal Writes is offering free writing workshops to English-speaking youth and seniors across the province.

These workshops, available in-person or virtually via Zoom, aim to connect and empower participants in isolated or underserved communities. The sessions, offered as one-day in-person or three to four virtual sessions, encourage attendees to shape and share their personal stories through creative writing.

Community organizations can request one of seven workshops at no cost for their members. This initiative reflects the Federation’s commitment to fostering creativity, self-expression, and community connections.

To participate, all you need is to complete our simple application form.

Do keep in mind that workshops will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. This streamlined process allows communities to easily apply and engage in these valuable writing workshops.
